FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have questions about the show and you cannot find the answer to please feel free to e-mail us at antietamrec@md.net or you can call us at (301) 797-7999.

Is the show outside?

No, most of the evening--including the meal and the show--is inside a warm, heated building.  There are optional activities which are offered including the wagon ride, animal stable, and pony rides which are outside.  However, for those who do not wish to go outside, there are many other activities offered indoors during this time before the show.

What if it snows?

THE SHOW MUST GO ON! The show will go on whenever possible.  We average only one cancellation a season.  Snow/ice early in the day or even early in the evening will not prompt a cancellation, nor will a weatherman’s prediction.  However, if severe conditions do warrant a cancellation, ticket-holders will be notified by phone or e-mail no later than 3 hours prior to the event.  (Make sure your contact information is accurate!)

If we do have to cancel the show, you have two options.

  1. We know you will enjoy the show and want you to have a chance to see it, so we will provide you with snow day tickets which are good for any future (available) performance.
  2. If you are unable to take advantage of the snow day ticket, you may choose to receive a full refund.  Please keep in mind however that if we have decided to proceed with the show (this means that our actors from all over the area feel safe in coming), guests who do not attend, forfeit their tickets.

What is the cancellation policy?

15 days or more before your show date, there is a $5 per ticket charge for any cancellations or changes made to your reservation. Within 14 days, all sales are final; there are no refunds or date transfers.

Do you have gift certificates available?

Yes, gift certificates are available and can be purchased by calling (301- 797-7999) or visiting our office.

Can I hold tickets while I check with others or collect the money?

Unfortunately, we cannot hold tickets until payment is made. We recommend that you have your confirmed number before purchasing your tickets.

I have a health condition or personal preference that would require a vegetarian meal.  Is this (or any other meal option) available? I'm afraid we do not have a vegetarian meal at this time.  Guests are welcome to bring food into the facility to supplement or replace their meal, but there is no price reduction. You may also box up the uneaten meal to take home or you can share it with someone else.

Are you wheelchair & handicap accessible?

There are no steps into the building

Tips?

We do not accept tips, it is our pleasure to serve you!

Do you serve alcohol?  May I bring my own?

No, we do not serve alcohol.  No, please do not bring your own.

Is the show appropriate for young children?

Children 3 and under are NOT permitted. Young children 4 and older who can sit quietly are welcome.

Our show does NOT contain any dirty jokes or foul language (although there are insults such as "idiot" and "coward") and there are NO sexual situations or comments.  However, we DO have action scenes as would be appropriate in the Old West.  This includes gunfire using blank guns (which are quite loud), and hand-to-hand fighting.  We do not use blood, no character dies, and these scenes are not the focus of the drama.  There ARE tense/sad situations, when characters are in mortal peril. The overall theme, which will be discussed in more detail in the next question, is one of love and forgiveness, and the drama has a happy ending.  We would be happy to discuss any concerns over the phone (301-797-7999).

I've heard that your show is religious.  What is that about?

Antietam Recreation is privately owned by the Rotz family, who are Christians.  The show promotes Judeo-Christian values and includes the true meaning of Christmas (God sending us a Savior).

How do I dress?

This is a very casual event so dress comfortably. Cowboy hat, bandanna and boots are very appropriate.  If you plan to participate in the pre- dinner activities you will want to dress warmly as some of them are outdoors however the rest of the evening is indoors and heated.
